The Dark Knight

Finally got to watch The Dark Knight with eight of us occupied half of the row.
The movie was abit long towards the end, but pretty good. The joker is brilliant in the movie.

Nikon D90 and Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 - Nikon's lastest additions

Nikon D90 has finally been annouced after weeks and weeks of speculation. A stunning new feature is the ability to take HD720 video @24fps (D-movie). Some advantages of using DSLR to capture videos over camcorders are:
  • the ability to shoot in fisheye, telephoto and wide angle lenses;
  • offering a much larger sensor than camcorders;
  • the ability to capture movies in very low light; and
  • the ability to control depth of field.

Nikon D90 Key Features
12.9 megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor (effective pixels: 12.3 million)
3.0-inch 902,000 pixel (VGA x 3 colors) TFT-LCD (same as D3 and D300)
Live View with contrast-detect AF, face detection
Image sensor cleaning (sensor shake)
Illuminated focus points
Movie capture at up to 1280 x 720 (720p) 24 fps with mono sound
IS0 200-3200 range (100-6400 expanded)
4.5 frames per second continuous shooting (buffer: 7 RAW, 25 JPEG fine, 100 JPEG Normal)
Expeed image processing engine
3D tracking AF (11 point)
Short startup time, viewfinder blackout and shutter lag
Slightly improved viewfinder (96% frame coverage)
Extensive in-camera retouching including raw development and straightening
Improved user interface
New optional compact GPS unit (fits on hot shoe)
Same battery and vertical grip as D80
Vignetting control in-camera
72 thumbnail and calendar view in playback

Also annouced today is the Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens.

Hair Colour Preview

It is amazing that at ISO3200, it can produce such a clean shot. This is one of the many advantages of Nikon D700 FX.
Ever thought about what you will look like with the new hair colour?

Nikon AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8

While making a switch to the D700 Full Frame. I need to acquire a lens for it. The chosen lens is Nikon's argueably best mid range zoom - Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8
_DS11233
A comparison to the DX equivalent mid range zoom 17-55mm (25.5-82.5mm FX equivalent)

Lowepro Fastpack 350

Lastest backpack I have is the Lowepro Fastpack 350. It has a notebook compartment which will fit a notebook with 17" screen
_DS11124
Alot bigger compares to the fastpack 200, looks abit like a trekker with waist belt, but fits everything with room to expand.
DSCN1223
Lowepro fastpack 200 is abit smaller without notebook compartment. Fits everything, less bulky and wont be so obvious as a tourist, but it is abit tight for my gear and won't have any room for expansion.
DSCN1032
Lowepro slingshot 200AW, smallest size of the three, but the interior is alot bigger. However, slingshot design is not very good for long trips.
